The Tyler Street Foundation stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Tyler Street Christian Academy. Established to honor the Academy's rich history and continue its mission, the Foundation channels its resources into supporting schools, educational programs, health and human services organizations, and Christian ministries. Our primary focus remains in Oak Cliff, Texas, where our predecessor made an indelible impact.
A Beacon of Education and Service
For nearly five decades, Tyler Street Christian Academy served the Oak Cliff/southwest Dallas area with its commitment to education and community. Founded in 1972 as a ministry of Tyler Street Methodist Church, the Academy welcomed students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, providing a nurturing environment from K3 through 12th grade. Over the years, thousands of students benefited from its college preparatory curriculum and faith-based education.
Embracing Change, Enabling Growth
In 2021, faced with a convergence of challenges, including the global pandemic, Tyler Street Christian Academy made the difficult decision to close its doors permanently. However, from the sale of its property emerged an opportunity to sow seeds of hope and transformation. The board of directors resolved to endow the proceeds, birthing the Tyler Street Foundation. With a commitment to our Oak Cliff community, we embark on a journey to empower and uplift through strategic philanthropy.

The Tyler Street Foundation operates with a clear mission: to support organizations and initiatives that share our vision of a thriving, empowered community. Through an invitation-only application process, we carefully select recipients who align with our values and demonstrate a commitment to making a difference. While we do not accept unsolicited letters of inquiry or proposals, we remain open to collaborations and partnerships that further our collective impact.
